Mist Ladder

1st-level transmutation

Classes: sorcerer, warlock, wizard

Casting time: 1 action

Range: 60 feet

Components: V, S, (a burning branch, or a Small or larger fire)

Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

You mold and shape the smoke from a burning branch or fire into a flexible ladder of smoke and mist. It is weightless and easily handled by you, occupying one of your hands. As an action, you can extend it in the form of a rigid, stable ladder extending up to 30 feet. It need not be supported or leaned against an object, though its orientation must be generally vertical (no more than 45 degrees from vertical). Every round it is exposed to strong or stronger winds you must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 10 to maintain concentration on the spell. It remains in place until you spend another action collapsing it back into a smoky bundle, at which point you can carry it with you and extend it again elsewhere. As long as the mist ladder is in its flexible form, it occupies one of your hands. At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a 2nd level spell slot or higher, the ladder’s length increases by 10 feet for each slot level above 1st.
