Oubliette

3rd-level transmutation

Classes: druid, ranger, warlock

Casting Time:1 action

Range:30 feet

Components:V, S, M (tiny shovel and a sharpened stake)

Duration:Permanent

You create a 10-foot-wide and 20-foot-deep hole whose bottom and sides are covered with diseased filth and refuse. Any creature within the area when you cast it must attempt a Dexterity saving throw. Those that succeed are able to move into a square adjacent to the oubliette without falling in, while those that fail fall into it, taking 2d6 bludgeoning damage and 2d6 poison damage and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or immediately contract a disease. A raging fever sweeps through the creature’s body. The creature has disadvantage on Strength checks, Strength saving throws, and attack rolls that use Strength. A diseased creature can attempt a new saving throw to end this effect at the end of each long rest they complete. A DC 15 Strength (Athletics) check is required to climb out of a putrid pit.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a 4th level spell slot or higher, the pit increases in depth by 10 feet and increases the toxicity of the filth in the oubliette, dealing 1d6 extra bludgeoning damage and 1d6 extra poison damage for each slot level above 3rd.
