Quieting Weapons

4th-level illusion

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: Touch

Components: V, S

Duration: 1 hour

Classes: bard, wizard

You can shroud two weapons in silence, causing them (and any ammunition they use) to make no sound as part of their normal functions as a weapon. A sword would not clang against armor, a firearm would not make a loud bang, but casting it on a creature’s bite attack would not prevent it from speaking. In addition, the first time a creature is struck by a quieting weapon, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, it has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks based on hearing for 1 hour and it cannot make noise louder than a whisper, requiring a DC 10 Wisdom (Perception) check to be heard by others. This does not interfere with verbal spell components or command words but may prevent the creature from communicating with others (including giving orders to summoned or magically controlled creatures). Whether it succeeds or fails its saving throw, a creature is immune to further effects of quieting weapons for 1 hour.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you can cast this spell on two additional weapons for each level above 4th.
