Skin Slough

5th-level necromancy

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 120 feet

Components: V, S, M (a pinch of dried skin flakes)

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

Classes: cleric, warlock, wizard

The target takes 3d8 necrotic damage each round, or half as much on a successful Constitution saving throw. Each time it fails a saving throw, it gains 1 level of exhaustion as its skin loosens and splits. When the target reaches 4 levels of exhaustion, its skin tears apart and peels away, revealing its raw flesh and musculature underneath. The target ceases taking further damage or exhaustion from the spell, but it has disadvantage on saving throws against disease, poison, stunning, and any magical effect that specifically causes pain (not just hit point damage), and any attack or effect that deals hit point damage other than mental damage deals an additional 1d6 damage to the target. The target also has disadvantage Constitution and Charisma checks and saving throws other than Charisma (Intimidation) checks. All effects of skin slough are ended immediately by regenerate. If the target’s exhaustion is reduced to zero, the other effects of skin slough can be removed with greater restoration or one week of rest.
