Steal Voice

2nd-level necromancy

Casting Time:1 action

Components:V

Range:30 ft.

Duration:Concentration, up to 1 minute

Classes: bard, warlock

You steal away the target’s power of speech with a curse unless it succeeds on a Wisdom saving throw. While its voice is stolen, the target cannot make themselves heard unless they spend a bonus action to force their voice out, and even then they only can be heard by creatures within 20 feet.

The target must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw in order to successfully cast a spell with a verbal component or use a command word to trigger a magic item, though they have advantage on this saving throw if they spend a bonus action to force their voice out. Even if spellcasting succeeds, targets gain advantage on their saving throw against any spell that involves speech as part of the spell’s effect, such as command, enthrall, suggestion, or power word spells. Remove curse ends this spell immediately.

At Higher Levels: If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the duration is concentration, up to 10 minutes. If you use a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the duration is increased to 8 hours and the spell no longer requires concentration and cannot be ended by dispel magic. If you use a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the duration is increased to 24 hours. If you use a spell slot of 8th level or higher, it is permanent until removed.
