Strike Up the Band

3rd-level illusion

Classes bard

Casting Time:1 action

Range:60 feet

Components:V, S, M (a tuning fork)

Duration:Concentration, up to 5 rounds

When you cast this spell, you create an illusory copy of yourself at an unoccupied space you can see within range and begin playing in rounds with it. The image is visual and auditory, though physical interaction with the copy reveals it to be an illusion because things can pass through it.

This illusionary copy remains in place playing music until it is destroyed or the spell ends. A copy’s AC equals your spell save DC. If a spell attack or weapon attack hits a copy, the copy is destroyed. It ignores all other damage and effects.

Whenever you start your turn while still concentrating on this spell, you may create another illusory copy of yourself at an unoccupied space you can see within range.

As an action, you can direct any illusionary copy of yourself to move up to your Speed and mimic a simple action. You may also use Bardic Inspiration through your illusory copies as if you were in the illusion’s space, but you must use your own senses.

Additionally, when both you and one of your illusory copies are within 5 feet of a creature that can see the copy, you have advantage on attack rolls against that creature, given how distracting the copy is to the target.

You cannot cast another spell through your spellcasting focus while concentrating on this spell.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can maintain concentration on this spell for 1 additional round per slot level above 3rd.
