You transform the physical makeup of a weapon, subtly altering the weapon so that it deals either bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage rather than the normal type of damage it deals. The weapon’s appearance is unchanged on casual observation, but a DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) or Intelligence (Investigation) check can reveal the alteration. A versatile weapon is also considered silvered for the purpose of bypassing resistance to damage. You can affect or up to 20 pieces of ammunition; all must be changed in the same way. You also can cast this spell on a creature’s claw, bite, or similar natural weapon, including a humanoid creature’s fist. A versatile weapon may be used to perform non-combat actions appropriate to its altered damage type, such as using a fist that now deals slashing damage to cut a rope.
