Wall of Sound

4th-level evocation

Casting Time:1 action

Components:V, S, M (a tuning fork)

Range:120 ft.

Duration:Concentration, up to 1 minute

Classes: bard, sorcerer, wizard

A translucent barrier of pure sound springs into existence, forming a straight wall up to 60 feet long, 20 feet high and 1 foot thick, or a ring-shaped wall up to 20 feet in diameter, 20 feet high, and 1 foot thick. The wall is silent except for a faint hum, but it bursts with discordant noise when touched by an object or creature.

When the wall appears, each creature within its area must make a Constitution saving throw, as must creatures moving through the wall of sound after it has formed.

Creatures take 5d8 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save. Creatures failing their save also are deafened for 1 minute, and Small or smaller flying creatures failing their save while moving into the wall of sound are forced back and unable to move through it, though they may try again on their next turn.

This wall of thunderous sound deflects arrows, bolts, and other ordinary projectiles aimed at creatures on the other side so that they automatically miss. Boulders hurled by giants or siege weapons and similar large projectiles are unaffected.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th.
